Cette forme évoque la forme d’un livre. J’ai donc plié une tôle d’acier de 2mm d’épaisseur à la main, ce qui demande des efforts et un temps considérable (chauffe et martelage). J’ai ensuite usiné un système de tiges filetées pointues tenant sur les parois à l’intérieur de la forme. Lorsque l’on desserre l’écrou central, les tiges s’étendent, ce qui écarte les parois et permet de faire tenir le système en tension.
This piece resembles the shape of a book. I hand-folded a 2mm thick steel sheet, a process that requires significant effort and time, involving heating and hammering. I then machined a system of sharp threaded rods attached to the interior walls of the form. When the central nut is loosened, the rods extend, pushing the walls apart and creating tension to hold the structure in place.
